Introduction
Welcome to the unit CVEN2001. This unit looks at a very import aspect within Civil Engineering - ensuring that society can protect and rely on the environment for its needs and health. This breaks down into two sections - considering water and wastewater (as the most consumed material on the planet, you would think we would be doing a better job of securing and maintaining our supplies), and managing the environment we exist within. This unit should have a fairly significant impact on your understanding of environmental health and the impacts that poor engineering and decision making can have. The content within this unit are critical for those who want to pursue a career in the water industry, regulatory bodies, as an environmental engineer, or anyone with an interest in the world around them.

- 4 Apply systems thinking for innovative solutions to global civil and construction engineering challenges, discern knowledge and undertake applied research in a discipline of civil and construction engineering
Assessment Breakdown
Recent Unit Changes & Response to Student Feedback
Students are encouraged to provide feedback through student surveys (such as Insight and the annual Student Experience Survey) and interactions with teaching staff. Listed below are some recent changes to the unit as a result of student feedback. This year, the lectures have been pre-recorded to improve accessibility and allow for more flexible learning methods. The tutorial content now has some individual assessment to reduce the exposure to group assessments.
